 The
CIA triad (denoting Confidentiality, Integrity
and Availability) most commonly used to denote
area concerned with information and data
security breach – a very familiar terminology.
We believe that there is more to the CIA triad
and can be achieved by adding three additional
atomic, non-overlapping attributes of
information to the Triad these are defined by
the Parkerian Hexad shown beside.
These attributes of information are atomic and
they are non-overlapping in that they refer to
unique aspects of information. Any information
security breach can be described as affecting
one or more of these fundamental attributes of
information.
However, Information Security is the process of
ensuring secure data without compromising its
usefulness and availability. Hence, the entire
